The 5th Annual Springfield Missouri Indian Artifact Show was held Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Remington’s Event Center in Springfield Mo.
Collectors from eight states presented authentic museum quality prehistoric and historic artifacts including arrowheads, rare Mississippian Human Effigy Pottery, stone axes and tools, and bone and shell artifacts on over 150 eight foot tables. The collectors will had items for sale and display.
The 2011 show had over 500 visitors. Several visitors brought artifacts to be appraised, identified or sold to collectors. Every year we see some very rare artifacts walk through the door. This year I saw a 4-1/4" Scottsbluff that was perfection, a 5-1/4" winterset chert Dalton from up near Kansas City, and one of the rarest points you'll ever see a Folsom found by a friend of mine in Southwest Missouri. See the Bower Folsom page.
Each year Richard and I have a great time visiting with fellow enthusiast about this years personal find or great buys we have made since the last show. The awards this year represented some outstanding artifacts.
The 2011 Springfield Indian Artifact Show award winners were as follows:
Best Of Show - Rick Fitzgerald for his Human Effigy Pottery
